Bergara is fiery and focused, while the hard-swinging band takes the audience for a ride.
The Quartet was named Best Jazz Group In Los Angeles by Los Angeles Magazine, picked Django Reinhardt Performer Of The Year, and was an Editor's Pick in Guitar Player Magazine and are veterans of the jazz and pop world who have worked with artists as diverse as John Jorgenson, Strunz and Farah, Terry Gibbs, Joe Williams and Clark Terry to Moby and Barry Manilow.
| | | | | 10 Fri | The Charles Wheal Band 8 to 11pm $20 cover | BLUES: "Ever since leaving Mark Hummel's band in 2006 to focus on his own music, Charles Wheal has been making a name for himself as one of the top guitar players and singers on the scene today. With the release of his debut CD "The Greaseland Sessions" in 2009 (featuring long time Hummel bandmate Steve Wolf on bass), he made a clear statement that his music is a natural continuation of the traditions started by Charlie Christian and BB King, while still borrowing liberally from the more ensemble 'Chicago' sound.
The Charles Wheal Band will get any crowd up and dancing, and keep them there all night long."

| | | | | 18 Sat | Hurricane Sam & The Hotshots 8 to 11pm $20 cover | BOOGIE, BLUES & JAZZ: $20 Advance & $25 at the Door. (CLUB MEMBER PRICE $14) With the rhythmic intensity of an entire band, Sam Rudin attacks and caresses the keyboard, romping through the whole range of 20th century American music. He can evoke the spirit of Fats Waller, Oscar Peterson, Mose Alison, and Jerry Lee Lewis...sometimes all at the same time. He is also a compelling vocalist whose rough-hewn voice conveys both drama and humor.
And he is an exciting performer, whose enthusiasm on stage is as clear as his love for the blues, jazz, and country traditions from which his music comes.
Sam has worked with all types of musicians, playing rock'n'roll with Chubby Checker, western swing with Back in the Saddle, classic blues with Frankie Lee, and slick pop-soul with SisterSledge. He has even worked with bluegrass great Frank Wakefield, who has proclaimed Sam to be the only true bluegrass piano player in the entire world. With his own band, Hurricane Sam and the Hotshots, he plays swing, blues, R&B, and funk.
Joining Sam on this date will be Michael O'Neill (sax) Jimmy Hobson (drums) and Joshua Zucker (bass). All of these guys are world-class players whose consumate musicianship has filled their resumes with both local and national names.

| | | | | 25 Sat | Mary Jenson 8 to 11pm $20 cover | JAZZ: $20 Advance & $25 at the Door. (CLUB MEMBER PRICE $14) Dubbed “West-Coast Cool”, vocalist Mary Jenson returns to the stage at Silo’s Jazz Club, performing selections from her new CD in progress and favorites from her 2009 CD “Close Your Eyes”.
Joined by a stellar cast of players led by pianist, producer, composer and arranger Frank Martin, Mary performs music that takes the jazz genre from traditional to funk-bop-drama.
Jenson sings jazz, but doesn’t always fit the stereotype of what a “jazz singer” entails, and that’s a good thing. Her voice is far from a stereotype, so listen and see/hear if you agree.
John Book - The Run-Off Groove (Apr 28, 2009)
Halfway through the opening track of Mary Jenson’s inaugural CD, I knew this was a serious jazz singer who had something to sing about.
By L. PIERCE CARSON - Napa Valley Register (Feb 25, 2010)
| | | | | 30 Thu | A 3 Band evening 7 to 10pm $10 cover | Three bands in three hours! Serf and James, Richard Perot, and The Erich Zann Band.
Silo's hosts a first glimpse at the reinvented Serf and James. They will be announcing their new name, and premiering songs in anticipation of the upcoming album. Once an acoustic duo, Serf and James have expanded into a harmonious, compelling five-piece. Ray Manzarekdescribes them as "Most unusual...great ideas...lots of promise," and Gabe Meline of the Bohemian writes that Serf sings "with a voice that soars and contracts with such natural nuance and falsetto control over well-written songs...."
Also introducing Richard Perot! The simple, yet melancholy songwriting of Richard Perot has been compared to the likes of Leon Russel,Boz Skaggs, and Tori Amos. Richard is a self taught pianist/singer-songwriter, that writes songs from the heart. He will be performing with Napa locals Henri Hirsch on bass, and Alex Bush on drums.
The Electric Blues gentlemen of the Erich Zann Band are some of the most talented, yet modest men you shall ever meet and listen to. Dan Silva and Greg Forbyn of Astroslide join forces with Gary Williams, whose talents were known but rarely heard until now. Add one of our favorite local drummers--the exquisite Joey Des Jardin--and you have a mix of seemingly effortless talent on display.
